oh god, okay, new york, do you remember these awful books from high school? did you have one for every subject, even the classes you weren’t in? did you have a panic attack during the math b exam because you were about 13 and convinced that your life would end if you didn’t get a regents diploma? and then NY FUCKING THREW IT AWAY because it was so hard almost no one passed so you had to take it again in august and wanted to die? are you still irrationally pissed that you got a 99 on the fucking english regents and demanded to see the test but your teacher was like “no, go away” so you’re still convinced that you got a perfect score but the bitch just hated you because of that one time you were an insufferable brat and announced that you didn’t see how it was fair that she got to grade your writing because you were smarter than she was? did your school put such a crazy emphasis on the regents that the curriculum was structured solely around the exams so when you passed the math ones too early, they realized they had no other classes so they made up a fake math class where you sat with four other kids and talked about the angles in spider-man movies for two years?
did you eventually end up skipping your spanish regents because you were 17 and wanted to watch tv and were already accepted to college and realized there’s no real difference between a regular diploma and regents diploma? are you turning 23 soon and still sometimes wonder if you can go back to high school and take the spanish exam just so they can upgrade your H.S. diploma (that you lost immediately after recieving it) with a regents stamp or whatever? did you go to a bookstore today and debate buying some of these books just to prove to yourself that you can still pass the exams and that heavy drinking hasn’t made you dumber? did you then realize that’s a crazy thing to do although you will definitely end up buying them all next week? or is that just me?
I got 99s on each of my history Regents exams. I still hold grudges against the graders.
