Paragons of fiscal discipline, every Senate Republican today voted against reestablishing “pay-as-you-go” budgeting rules that mandate that any new spending must be paid for. The rule passed on a 60-40 party line vote.

Nice work, GOP. You’ve now ceded the opportunity to argue that you’re the party against increased federal spending.

Uh, genius: They voted against holding the line on spending. Pay-go forces any measure that costs money to be offset by cutting money elsewhere. The GOP voted uniformly against balanced budgets.
